BFE 38: TUM Round 2.1 preview.

Hi, my name is Jack Walian AKA predicted with Blitzkrieg Unleashed, and I’m here to guide you through all the fights in the second round of the biggest tournament in MMATycoon history. Last round we saw sixty-four bantamweights turn into thirty-two, and this weekend they battle for a spot among the final sixteen.

Khalil Zidane vs. Joe Bell

In the first round, Joe Bell showed his high level BJJ as he was able to use his opponent’s wrestling against him landing beautiful sweeps from the bottom, when he combined this with his decent Muay Thai clinch and kicks it was an easy job for the judges seeing who had won the fight, after Rommel did nearly nothing before getting swept. Zidane had a much shorter journey to the second round, as his fight only lasted two minutes and thirty-three seconds before he ended it with a crushing straight right to end the fight. In his fight he proved he had both KO power and excellent boxing, the number one seed really cemented his position as the favorite to win the tournament.

Taisto "Bad Company" Rakuuna vs. The Kicking Pokemon Hitmonlee

In his last fight, Hitmonlee squared off against fellow Muay Thai striker, Popo Bawa, the two fighter’s styles nullified each other making for a lackluster fight with little action, this will most likely not be the case as he fights Taisto Rakuuna. Rakuuna is not only a vicious boxer, but he was able to survive his opponent’s attempts to strike in the clinch. Look for Hitmonlee to use his improved skills to avoid the big right hand of Rakuuna, Rakuuna will most likely try to counter one of Hitmonlee’s kicks and add another knockout to his perfect record.

"Panzer" Franz Titties vs. "Sphinx" Paha Faarao

Coming of a wrestling background, Titties is able to utilize the Greco-roman clinch very effectively, as he showed in his last fight, where he grinded out a decision from the clinch, Faarao on the other had was a pure boxer, but has improved a lot since his last fight and is now becoming a mixed martial artist with a lot of tricks up his sleeve. He will probably try to create some distance from the clinch, by using his strength and recently improved Muay Thai and wrestling, and if he gets into boxing range, Titties could be knocked out at any point in the fight.

Bruce Bellec vs. “Big Bang” Sheldon Cooper

His last opponent’s so called granite chin didn’t faze Bruce Bellec, as his deadly high kick took care of business after two and a half minutes of action in the first tournament round. Cooper’s way into the second round was quite similar as he was able land a right hand of doom in the second minute of his fight earning him the victory. The two strikers both have proven and patented KO power, and it’s obvious that they have trained in each other’s area of expertise to get a better defense, whoever comes into this fight with a better game plan should win it.

Jens "Lil Pulver" Rizer vs. Mike McDermott

These two wrestlers are very similar since they use their wrestling to dish out punishment from the clinch, McDermott by his vicious cutting elbows, while Rizer applies some heavy handed dirty boxing. If this fight goes to the clinch, it certainly isn’t going to decision since they are both fighters that fight to finish while in the clinch, but maybe one of them saw something they wanted none of in the clinch? If that is so they might try to turn the fight into a war on the outside rather in the clinch where it looks like Rizer has a slight advantage.

Damir Mrsic vs. "Savage" Spike Spiegel

In his last fight Mrsic showed great heart as he refused to tap to the submissions applied by the BJJ brown belt Honovi BlackfootonoHHHHHhH, Mrsic got the fight to a standing position and applied his excellent boxing to his opponents face. Spiegel who won his last fight by hugging his opponent and refusing to fight, might have just as easy a time against Mrsic who has literarily no Muay Thai and could easily be smothered by the embrace of brotherly love.

Ikik Ufac vs. Victo "Tear" Rostou

Being one of the few jack of all trades Victo Rostou’s strong point is his ability to adapt to his opponents’ weaknesses something he showed in his last fight where he used his Muay Thai to outperform his opponent scoring nearly a hundred kicks which got him a crushing decision victory with two judges scoring it 30:25. Ufac being a Muay Thai specialist might be in trouble even if his kicks are probably a few levels above Rostou’s, Rostou has a whole arsenal of tricks up his sleeve and can fight both on the ground and on his feet. If he has a decent ground game Rostou wins, if not Ufac has the skills to grind out another decision with his leg kicks.

Alexander Popov vs. "Shamission Machine" Ahmad Durrani

Durrani is another example of how effective Greco-roman wrestling can be, he controlled his last fight from start to finish and employed some effective dirty boxing in the clinch in the process, he has now improved his boxing, surely to be able to land more technical dirty boxing. Popov on the other hand enjoys staying on the outside and throwing counterpunches as he did in his last fight where he showed his ability to deflect and counter as his opponent only hit two strikes throughout the fight. If Durrani is able to get the clinch he will most likely win, but if Popov is able to stay on the outside and counter we might see a knockout or a submission victory in this fight.

That’s the end of the first part folks, stay tuned for the second preview tomorrow as we close in on the two events, once again I’m Jack Walian and you’ve been reading Blitzkrieg Unleashed.
